Preparing For Poster Printing
By Colleen Davis
A poster campaign is an effective way for marketing a product, a service, an event, a cause, or even simply a brand. While direct mail campaigns are for a specific niche, poster printing will reach a more general audience, which is perfect when you need to expand your customer base. Before contacting the design team, completing a few preparations will insure a smoother process, and, therefore, a more successful campaign.
The Appearance
You will first need to know the purpose of your posters for a design that appropriately fulfills this purpose. Sizes for posters can range from 8.5x11 to 27 x39, depending on your printing company. Paper stock for posters is usually 100 lb. gloss text or 100 lb. gloss cover. Gloss cover is slightly thicker while gloss text is thinner and can be rolled easier. You may also decide to frame your poster. If so, decide between a picture frame or a simple plastic poster board frame.
The Location
First of all, research the locations where you will be hanging your posters. Make sure to set any reservations, if necessary, and check for poster hanging laws if you plan to post in public areas within a city. For better results, you will also need to research the demographics of the area to make sure that your target audience makes up a high percentage of the population.
The Competition
Post your advertisements in the same location as your competitors for reaching the same consumers. You may also want to join up with another non-competitor with the same target audience. Combining your advertisements with another can help boost publicity while cutting costs.
Never underestimate the power of preparing before launching your poster campaign. Plan well and your poster printing can bring you greater results than you ever imagined.
