Promotional Products For the Child & Younger Market

By Imogen Brown

You've probably got your promotional products sorted for your next marketing campaign but you are only part of the way there, you still need to consider who and where you are going to sell them to. If you've done your research before plunging right in, you will now reap the benefits of your hard work because you will have a clearer direction of where you should go.

A major benefit of the promotional market is the simple fact that there are hundreds if not thousands of custom imprintable products to choose from all geared to targeting a particular market sector. Even if you should just pick one particular market, say, the children's market, you will still have a diverse target range especially if you consider the income bracket (of the parents, of course!), ages, and regional locations of these children. Such a market area also gives you the ability to target parents as well in a vertical or horizontal advertising approach. What's more you can even do it the other way round and target the parents with child focussed gift items getting double the bang for your pound.

If we stick to our current example, the children's giveaways, it could be that you decide to distribute themed products, fun giveaways, part gifts and simple novel items. Such a campaign may involve products such as goody bags, games, balloons, poppers etc. Additionally, and just as important is the key fact that in virtually all situations children arrive at parties with a parent and therefore instantly you are getting your branding to a whole new audience thus making your promo products even more effective.

The example outlined above only deals with one particular target market but it does illustrate how one market can be blended into another. Given the right foucs and obvious dedication, if you are only producing promotional products for children, your business can still do very nicely out of such a sector.

Whenever you do target the children's market though, you must act highly responsibly at all times and ensure that you adhear to all the strict legislation that applies in terms of health and safety. Research on safety standards and make sure that your promotional gifts and products are commensurate to the age group you will offer them to. Children are inquisitive creatures by nature and have a tendancy to swallow small objects and no matter how careful you are this will always be the case. To ensure the best possible outcomes, double check then treble check that your products are super child-friendly. In conclusion avoid promotional items which are small in nature and which children may be tempted to swallow and possibly cause self harm.

Always try to keep ahead of your business rivals and this is really important if they too are distributing promotional products. It is also important if you do decide to target the children's market that you opt for interesting and fun promotional items. Try to recall what you enjoyed and found interesting when you were a child and this will stand you in good stead. Not only will you be coming up with more diverse products, you will also be ahead of the pack because your products will always be different and more than competitive.
