Advertising Considerations - Environmentally Friendly Green TV Ads
By Lance Winslow
More and more American consumers are expecting the corporation's they do business with to have environmentally friendly policies. That means they expect them not to pollute, to recycle and only buy goods that are manufactured by vendors who also follow environmentally sound policy. However, one has to question the motivation of all these corporations, as they constantly put environmentally friendly green TV ads all over the nightly news.
You see, to me and many other consumers we believe that corporations should be environmentally concerned and that should be the very minimum we should expect. If a company goes out of its way to promote itself as a green company and show us all the things that they are doing, then I have to question what were they doing in the last decade?
Every company should have green policies because it only makes common sense and because it is the right thing to do. Rather than tell us by spending huge sums of money on Television ads. Why not show us by putting that money towards reducing pollution?
Further, I think it is crazy for a company to promote itself as a green company for some particular thing it is doing on one hand and then on the other pollute something terrible in another way. For instance if a company puts plastic wrap and all kinds of other things around their packaging, but manufactures their product in an environmentally will friendly way, then is it really doing all it could or should.
Now mind you, I am not an environmentalist by any means, but I definitely do not believe we should be allowing the pollution of our air, Earth or water. So, I'd like to see companies walk their talk, but what do you think?
